Vietnam and Italy sign an action programme on educational co-operation on June 6
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc and the Italian Ambassador in Vietnam Antonio Alessandro signed the co-operation programme in Hanoi. Both countries will strengthen co-operation in education, language development and providing scholarships.
The Italian government will consider providing textbooks as well as other materials and equipment for Italian learning in Vietnam. They also discussed starting a pilot programme to teach Italian at a public school in Vietnam. The Italian authorities will help with building the curriculum and providing teaching materials and expenses to one or more Italian teachers.
The two sides will exchange books, audio and visual equipment to help the residents in both countries understand more about each other's education system. They also encouraged the co-operation between universities, especially study tours to each other universities.
Italy will provide annual scholarships to Vietnamese citizens. Long-term scholarships will be given to students of post-graduate training courses at universities, research centres or other educational facilities recognised by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research.
Vietnam will also provide annual scholarships to Italian citizens who want to learn Vietnamese or to join short-term training courses.
