Nguyen Hoang Linh decorates his houses with thousands of recycles bottles.
Nguyen Hoang Linh, 47, started to build his two-storey house in Cam Thanh Commune in 2006. Due a cash shortage, he could only complete the house's walls and pillars before moving in to live.
Then in 2016, when seeing restaurants in Hoi An dispensing of lots of used bottles, Linh had an idea of decorating his house.
"I’m a construction worker so I wanted to build a special house in my own way," Linh said. "With the used bottles, I also wanted to raise people's awareness about environmental protection"
For the past six years, Linh has collected thousands of bottles for his work. The bottles are cleaned, filled with water and classified based on their shapes and colours before being attached to the walls.
Different areas of the house are decorated with different kinds of bottles.
Linh said that it takes lots of time to carry out this decoration work.
"I can only add some 100 bottles a day as they need time to stick firmly with the cement," he said. "After that, I have to use a wet cloth to gently clean them."
So far over 12,000 bottles have been used for the decorations. And they have proved strong during hot and cold weather.
The bottles help the house have a cool temperature during summer. They also show glittering colours in the sunshine.
Linh said that he needs to add some 10,000 more bottles to complete his work in the next five years.
