At the ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien said the expo aimed to connect HCM City and Vietnam with tourist attractions, cities and nations in the region.

It would also serve as a venue for domestic and international tourism management agencies and units operating in the industry to meet, share experience and seek co-operation opportunities.
According to Thien, Vietnam welcomed over 10 million foreign tourist arrivals in the first eight months of this year, up 22.8% on-year.
Vietnam was named as Asia's Leading Destination in 2018 by World Travel Awards on September 3, Thien highlighted.
Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said that the city will try to improve its tourism products to attract more visitors.
The ITE HCM City is an annual event which has been launched in HCM City since 2009. This year’s expo is expected to lure participants from 38 countries and territories.
Around 375 sellers representing airlines, hotels, resorts, and travel companies from Brunei, Cambodia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Russia are participating in the event.
Thousands of promotional tours have been displayed at the expo with the discount of up to 50%.
