This is the first international route in the airline's network, marking a step towards expansion into the international market and directly connecting Phu Quoc with economic and tourism hubs in Asia, said Sun PhuQuoc Airways on January 15.

Tickets for the new route will go on sale from January 21, with direct flights operated by SPA starting March 29.

Apart from the Phu Quoc-Taipei route, SPA plans to expand its international flight network in 2026. From the second quarter of 2026, the airline expects to launch international routes connecting Phu Quoc with Busan, Singapore, Bangkok, and Hong Kong (China). From the third quarter of this year, the airline will add direct flights between Phu Quoc and Mumbai, New Delhi (India), and Kaohsiung (Taiwan, China).

The number of Taiwanese tourists to Phu Quoc has shown increases in recent years. In 2025 alone, the island welcomed more than 144,000 Taiwanese arrivals.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is the first Vietnamese airline named after an island. The airline developed by Sun Group aims to position Phu Quoc as a primary gateway for international tourism into Vietnam, directly linking the island with major economic and tourism centres in Vietnam and the world.
