The provincial People’s Committee has asked departments and local authorities to ensure eateries operate during the holiday, especially on the final day of the lunar year and the first two days, while maintaining service quality.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also requested tourism sites, accommodation providers, restaurants and cafes across the province to stay open throughout Tet.
Local administrations have been told to compile lists of businesses registering to operate over the holiday and submit them for publication, making it easier for residents and tourists to find places to eat.
In previous years, visitors, especially day-trippers, have struggled to find food in Quang Ninh as many restaurants and cafes closed due to low demand and higher wage costs.
A restaurant owner in Halong said most holiday visitors travel for spiritual activities, while many locals return to their hometowns or eat at home, resulting in limited customer traffic.
Some residents have urged authorities to publicise which establishments remain open, saying the lack of information discourages travel plans.
