Quang Ngai to open seaside pedestrian street at My Khe beach

Quang Ngai will launch an 800-metre pedestrian street along My Khe beach from February 7, combining coastal tourism with local cuisine, music and a night-time lighting space.

Pham Quoc Vuong, chairman of Tinh Khe Commune People’s Committee, said the My Khe Pedestrian Street will operate daily from 5 pm to 10 pm, with about 20 households registered to do business along the route.

The street runs along the My Khe coastal road, stretching from a mini-square stage area to the former Tinh Ky junction, where it meets Vo Bam Street.

Under the design, the pedestrian zone is divided into four functional areas: a check-in and music and arts performance space; 10 stalls selling local specialties and souvenirs; 20 food stalls; and 10 stalls offering alcoholic beverages.

My Khe is the most well-known beach in Quang Ngai and has long been a popular destination for both locals and visitors. Vuong said the pedestrian street aims to build on existing strengths in beach tourism while showcasing local specialties.

This will be the second pedestrian street to open in Quang Ngai in early 2026. The Song Tra night street along the southern bank of the Tra Khuc River is also scheduled to operate from February 6-7.

According to the Quang Ngai provincial People’s Committee, the province recorded growth of more than 10 per cent in 2025, with services accounting for about 29 per cent of GRDP. In 2026, Quang Ngai is targeting continued double-digit growth, with coastal and forest tourism identified as a key driver.
