Police return lost cash to foreign tourist in Mui Ne

Police in Mui Ne Ward, Lam Dong Province, have returned more than VND 27.5 million (about USD 1,045) in lost cash to a foreign tourist after it was found by a local resident.

The money was discovered on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Mui Ne, a popular coastal tourism area formerly part of Phan Thiet City in the former Binh Thuan Province.

A passer-by found a bundle of cash and reported it to officers at the Mui Ne Ward Police.

The amount, worth more than VND 27.5 million (about USD 1,045), included 55 Vietnamese banknotes of VND 500,000 and 14 one-dollar US bills.

Police documented the property and began efforts to locate the owner.

Within a short time, officers identified the owner as Dovydas Sklinskas, a foreign tourist staying in the area.

After verifying the details, the police returned the full amount to the visitor, who expressed his gratitude after recovering the money he had thought was lost.
