Hanoi Railways Company Limited said passengers using the Hanoi Metro app or purchasing single ride tickets at station counters will receive free trips from the 27th day of the last lunar month to the 6th day of the first lunar month.
The company described the policy as an early spring gift to residents and visitors, aimed at encouraging public transport use, reducing traffic congestion and promoting safe, convenient and environmentally friendly travel.
During the same period, the Hanoi Traffic Operation Centre, in coordination with bus operators, will waive fares on 128 subsidised bus routes across the city. Passengers will be issued tickets based on route pricing but will not be required to pay.
According to the municipal Department of Construction, the initiative is intended to facilitate travel to central areas for festive events, enhance Hanoi’s image as a modern and green capital, ease congestion and improve residents’ quality of life.
