
Up to 50 percent of the locality’s agricultural land is used for growing flowers. The Tet flower harvest will start from the 21st day of the 12th lunar month.

The Tet flower season began around two months ago.

At this time of the year, local residents focus on pruning leaves and weak buds to prioritise the stronger ones. With the work, each person can earn VND150,000 (USD6) per day.

Soil is mixed with ash, rice husks and coconut fiber to put down among the trees.

Flowers have started blooming.

Nguyen Thi Phuong in Thoi An Ward, who has 20 years of experience in gardening, said fertilizer prices had increased by 5-10 percent.

Trinh Thi Kim Lan, a flower garden owner, said that her family was growing around 10,000 plants this year, most of them being daisies and sunflowers.
