The service began on March 30, 2026, using Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft, offering modern cabin features, competitive fares and baggage allowances of up to 46 kilogrammes.

The airline announced the route at Noi Bai International Airport on April 8, following the launch of its direct Hanoi-Addis Ababa service in July 2025, highlighting Vietnam’s growing role in its regional strategy.
Ethiopian Airlines said the new connection is expected to boost trade, tourism and cultural exchange between Vietnam and neighbouring markets, while strengthening links to its global network.
The carrier added it will continue investing in greener aviation technologies and increasing flight frequencies in the coming period.
Ethiopian Airlines operates a fleet of 168 aircraft, serving 145 international and 23 domestic destinations. It is a member of Star Alliance and has been named Africa’s leading airline by Skytrax for eight consecutive years.
