The Danang People's Committee Office said on June 12 that local authorities had been instructed to select venues for non-profit public screenings of 2026 World Cup matches for residents and visitors.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening copyright protection for the tournament and preventing the illegal use or exploitation of broadcasting rights.
Authorities in An Hai Ward and Ngu Hanh Son Ward, where large numbers of tourists gather along the coastline, as well as wards in the Hoi An Ancient Town area, will survey and select suitable venues based on local demand for communal football viewing.
Local administrations will be responsible for ensuring technical infrastructure, internet connectivity, security, traffic management, environmental sanitation, medical services and fire safety throughout the events.
All screening locations must commit to serving the community and must not be linked to business activities or commercial purposes.
For screenings organised for commercial purposes, organisers must obtain approval from Vietnam Television (VTV).
The Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will also step up public awareness campaigns on protecting World Cup 2026 broadcasting rights and coordinate inspections and enforcement actions against copyright violations.
