Danang lifts tourist cyclo standards to boost experience

Danang has launched training for tourist cyclo drivers to improve safety awareness and service quality, as part of efforts to enhance visitor experience.

The Danang Tourism Promotion Centre, in coordination with municipal traffic police, organised a road safety course for all members of the city’s tourist cyclo team.

The programme aims to update drivers’ knowledge of traffic rules, strengthen compliance and equip them with practical skills to better serve visitors. Participants also shared real world experiences to help ensure safer journeys.

According to the centre, tourist cyclos have become a distinctive feature of Danang’s tourism offering, providing visitors with close insight into local culture and daily life. Drivers are also seen as informal ambassadors promoting the city’s image.

An additional course in conversational English is scheduled later this month to improve drivers’ ability to assist international tourists.

The city is also expanding promotion of cyclo tours on digital platforms such as Klook, KKday, GetYourGuide and Trip.com. An AI powered audio guide system is being introduced to enhance the experience.

Established in 2003, Danang’s tourist cyclo team now has 83 members managed by the Tourism Promotion Centre. In 2026, three new Touch Danang tour packages will be launched, combining sightseeing, cultural experiences and multilingual audio guides.

Authorities expect the upgrades to help build a more professional service while reinforcing Danang’s image as a friendly, modern and sustainable destination.
