Best places to watch Hanoi’s October 10 fireworks

Hanoi will stage a 15-minute fireworks display at 9 pm on October 10 to mark the 72nd anniversary of the capital’s Liberation Day, with shows at Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake and Van Quan Lake.

At the Hanoi Post Office, next to Hoan Kiem Lake, the display will feature 1,725 high-altitude fireworks, 500 low-altitude fireworks, 50 low-altitude launch platforms and 350 pyrotechnic units positioned on the lake.

The pedestrianised area around Hoan Kiem Lake is one of the most convenient places to watch the show. Numerous cafes and restaurants along the waterfront offer lake views, allowing visitors to combine dining with the fireworks in the heart of the city.

Rooftop bars and hotels around Cau Go, Bao Khanh and Hang Dau streets are also options for those who want to watch the display from above.

The second site, on Quang Khanh Street beside West Lake in Tay Ho Ward, will feature the largest number of high-altitude fireworks in this year’s programme, with 1,800 shells and another 475 low-altitude fireworks.

For the first time, the show will include 200 water-borne fireworks and 900 pyrotechnic units spread across West Lake, creating a display of light reflected on the water.

Convenient viewing spots include Quang Khanh, Ve Ho, Trich Sai and Nguyen Dinh Thi streets, as well as other roads along the lake’s shoreline.

The third site, at Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong Ward, has been designed to make the most of the open water and surrounding landscape, creating a layered visual effect. The display will feature nearly 800 fireworks units, including high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks and pyrotechnics.

The lake’s open spaces, park and walking paths provide room for visitors to gather and watch the show.
