Danang records nearly 16 million visitor stays in nine months

Danang City welcomed nearly 15.9 million overnight visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 26.4 per cent year on year, while accommodation and food service revenue rose 26.2 per cent.

Tourism, accommodation, food services and travel businesses in Danang continued to grow during the period, driven by demand for travel, dining and entertainment and a wider range of tourism products and events.

The city has also expanded its night-time economy, experiential tourism and use of technology to attract more visitors.

Accommodation establishments served an estimated 15.86 million visitors, including 7.73 million international visitors, up 28.7 per cent, and 8.13 million domestic visitors, up 24.3 per cent.

Revenue from accommodation and food services was estimated at VND 52.95 trillion (USD 2.04 billion), up 26.2 per cent year on year. Accommodation revenue reached VND 16.94 trillion, up 23.9 per cent, while food service revenue rose 27.3 per cent to VND 36.01 trillion.

Danang has continued to develop its night-time economy through pedestrian streets, night-time entertainment areas and food venues offering cultural and entertainment activities.

Events including the Vietnam-Japan Festival, Vietnam-South Korea Festival, Ngoc Linh Ginseng Festival and Enjoy Danang Festival, along with food experiences at Con Market, have added to the city's tourism offerings.

Travel service revenue reached an estimated VND 4.03 trillion in the first nine months, up 16.5 per cent from a year earlier.

Tour operators served about 1.35 million tourists, up 14.7 per cent. These included 492,200 international visitors, up 13.6 per cent, and 752,500 domestic visitors, up 12.4 per cent.

The number of Vietnamese travelling abroad on organised tours rose 41.6 per cent to 106,600.

Tour operators have also expanded into higher-value segments, including international destination weddings and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism.

Danang hosted and supported 40 international wedding events in the first eight months of the year. In August alone, the city welcomed 29 MICE groups with 7,574 visitors.

Tourism offerings have also expanded to include the 'Danang-Touch of Originality' event series, National Day promotions and eco-cultural tours in western Danang.

Travel services have also been linked with sporting, culinary and inter-regional tourism events to diversify experiences and encourage visitors to stay longer.

Danang has also stepped up the use of technology in tourism, including a VR360 AI tourism map, a visitor data platform and AI-powered commentary for cyclo tours.

Growth in visitor numbers and revenue has helped diversify the city's tourism market and offerings.
