Business operators along Nhat Le Beach in Dong Hoi Ward have been removing furniture, equipment and temporary structures following an order from the ward's General Services Centre.

According to the centre, contracts for 75 food and beverage businesses and five other service operators expired on September 30. All were required to hand back their premises by October 10.

The clearance is part of a plan to reorganise beachfront businesses, improve the coastal landscape and create more open public spaces.

On October 8, operators were seen dismantling steel frames, removing tables and chairs and using cranes to move heavy equipment. Many had already completed the clearance and returned their sites.

Residents loaded business equipment and supplies onto vehicles for storage while awaiting new business arrangements.

By October 8, many businesses along Nhat Le Beach had dismantled their premises and handed back their sites, ending years of trading there for some families.

Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, 40, who has run a beachfront seafood business for nearly 15 years, said she supported the redevelopment but feared for her livelihood, as the five-day deadline left little time to relocate after investing nearly VND 100 million in new roofing and furniture.

Local militia personnel have been deployed to help businesses dismantle structures and move their belongings. Meanwhile, affected operators have called for support and alternative business sites to allow them to continue earning a living and serving tourists.

The redevelopment aims to improve the Nhat Le beachfront and widen Truong Phap Street, creating a more attractive coastal area ahead of National Tourism Year 2027, which Quang Tri will host.
