The incident occurred at 3.40 pm on March 14 on Vo Nguyen Giap Street along Danang’s beachfront, according to the Son Tra Border Guard Station.

The tourist was seen operating a drone about 10 metres above the ground before a patrol team intervened and requested that he stop the flight.

During an inspection, the tourist failed to present a flight permit issued by the competent authorities. The Son Tra Border Guard Station confiscated the drone for further verification and handling in accordance with regulations.

Earlier, Danang International Airport reported six cases of drones entering the airport’s airspace between February 17 and 24, affecting 83 flights.

Following the incidents, authorities called for a thorough investigation and stricter enforcement.

Previously, Le Quang Nam, vice chairman of the Danang People’s Committee, ordered tighter controls on drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles operating in restricted airspace around the airport.

Local police and military authorities have since conducted patrols and handled at least 10 cases of illegal drone operations.
