Mat Than Mountain is situated in Ban Danh Village, Tra Linh District. From September to March in the lunar calendar, Cao Bang experiences a dry spell, unveiling expansive grasslands in the heart of a vast valley.

Mat Than Mountain, formed over 300 million years ago, stands like a giant green pyramid at the valley's heart.

The mountain is characterised by a blend of tower-shaped and cone-shaped karst formations, interspersed with dozens of lakes of various sizes.

Visitors can gaze from one side of the mountain to another, and it appears as if a cave is suspended in mid-air.

The mountain is surrounded by interconnected lakes linked to surface and underground streams. The water levels of these lakes can vary with the seasons.

In recent years, the mountain has seen increased visits from foreign tourists.

At the foot of the mountain lies a vast valley. Visitors can enjoy a full panoramic view of this stunning landmark from the peak.

The constant flow of cars and motorbikes has transformed the entrance to Thung Mountain into winding, rutted trails, creating an intriguing route.

The entire valley is covered in lush grass during this time of year. Visitors can camp, enjoy picnics, or go cycling.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism recognised Mat Than Mountain as a national scenic site in 2021.
