On January 26, the Tay Ninh People’s Committee accepted a proposal from the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment to tighten forest management and maintain public order at the Ba Den Mountain national tourist site.

The decision follows a surge in incidents ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year, as many visitors climbed the mountain without permission and encountered problems including exhaustion, getting lost and dehydration. Officials said many lacked adequate fitness, water supplies and hiking skills, particularly when starting late in the day, posing serious safety risks.

Under the plan, barrier gates will be installed to regulate people and vehicles entering the area. The management unit will also review and publish a list of groups permitted to access forested zones and step up public awareness efforts to ensure compliance.

The provincial government has assigned the department of agriculture and environment to work with authorities in Binh Minh Ward to implement the measures, with any issues beyond their authority to be reported promptly for provincial guidance.
