Vi Thanh Market in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang is nicknamed the Squatting Market or Chom Hom in Vietnamese as traders only squat or sit on small chairs, while goods are displayed on the ground.

The market was started more than a decade ago near Cai Nhuc Bridge on Tran Hung Dao Street in Vi Thanh Town.

Each stall covers a fixed area of 2-4 square metres, selling mostly farm produce.

The market lasts from 2 am to 10 am and with the busiest time being between 6 am and 8 am.

Most of the market traders are local residents or those from neighbouring areas.

The market paints a colourful picture.

Different kinds of vegetables and specialties of Hau Giang can be found at the market.
