The Cam Lo District Forest Protection Department in Quang Tri Province announced on Thursday that they have received a rare pangolin from a local household and transferred it to the Centre for Rescue, Conservation and Creature Development at Cuc Phuong National Park for better care and monitoring.
"The Java pangolin weighing 2.5 kilo was found entering a room in the house of Ho Ngoc Song, 48, in Dong Ha City on March 18, the department said. "Suspecting a rare endangered animal, the man informed us and handed it over to us."
Java pangolins belong to group IB and are listed as rare, critically endangered animals.
