A sudden tornado struck Vinh Phuoc Commune at around 7.30 am on July 30, damaging 20 houses. Of these, three homes were completely destroyed, while 17 others and several outbuildings suffered roof damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to residents, the storm began with heavy rain, followed by a whirlwind that swept through in less than two minutes, tearing off rooftops and scattering belongings. Numerous trees were also uprooted.

Local authorities were quick to arrive at the scene to assist residents in cleaning up and recovering from the storm. The Vinh Phuoc Commune People's Committee is currently assessing the damage to provide timely support to affected households.

The day before, Ca Mau also experienced another round of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes that damaged 22 homes, five of which were destroyed and 17 unroofed. Initial estimates place the total damage at nearly VND 3 billion (approximately USD 118,000).

In recent weeks, tornadoes have become increasingly frequent and destructive across the Mekong Delta region. Notably, a powerful whirlwind on July 23 swept through several communes and wards in Dong Thap and An Giang provinces, damaging hundreds of homes and injuring 17 people.
