After several hours of searching, forest rangers successfully tranquillised and captured the monkey. It was later taken in for care and rehabilitation.

The HCM City Forest Protection Department reported that the animal is a male pig-tailed macaque (Macaca leonina) weighing approximately 6.5 kilogrammes. This species is classified as Group IIB, which lists endangered, precious, and rare species in Vietnam.

According to a resident, the monkey had frequently entered houses in search of food. It even grabbed cakes and fruit from the family altar and climbed into the home through a window.
