Pham Thu Phuong, from Thuan Thanh District's Nghia Dao Commune, is being cared for at K3 Hospital in Hanoi by her paternal grandmother, Nguyen Thi My.
Phuong is facing with bone cancer
According to My, Phuong underwent surgery to remove a tumour and is currently receiving chemotherapy. Doctors said that she will need another surgery for a thigh bone transplant or else there's a risk of amputation and even death. The surgery would cost hundreds of millions of VND.
Meanwhile, Phuong's father, Pham Van Tan, has been facing mental problems since 2016. His condition has not yet improved despite being taken to different hospitals for treatment. Every month, he has to go to the hospital to take medicines.
In October 2023, a spot suddenly appeared on her right leg. It quickly grew. Within a few months, the place became as big as an orange. She was then diagnosed with bone cancer.
Doctor Tran Hai Nam from K3 Hospital in Hanoi says there are two surgical options for Phuong. The first is amputation, which is not expensive but does not preserve the limb. The second is thigh bone transplant and artificial knee replacement, which is the optimal solution but is costly.
Doctor Nam expected that through Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper, more donors would learn about Phuong's condition and help her.
