Meanwhile, the couple’s two children Cao Van Toan, 32, and Cao Xuan Tinh 29, are facing mental disabilities. Toan is also completely blind.

The father said that they behave like three-year-old children and often struggle to control their actions.

"When they are angry, they often throw things around the house," he said.

Over the past ten years, Toa and his wife have had to take turns to stay at home to look after their children. The family mostly depends on farming work.

Cao Thi Ai Luyen, vice chairwoman of Yen Hoa Commune’s Father Front, said that Toa’s family is the poorest in the locality. Local residents have joined hands to help the family for many years.
