The 11th annual Ho Chi Minh City Fun Run, which will be held on Sunday October 3, hopes to raise US$40,000 for local charities in Vietnam.
Organized by the British Business Group of Vietnam (BBGV), this year’s Fun Run is expected to attract 6,000 participants including company employees, children as well as professional runners.
Participants will gather at the Saigon Zoo & Botanical Gardens located at No.2 Nguyen Binh Khiem Sreet, Dist.1, at 6:00am. The run officially starts at 6:45am.
Runners and walkers will set out on a 4 kilometre route departing from the zoo on Le Duan Street to Dong Khoi, Mac Thi Buoi and Hai Ba Trung streets before finishing back at the zoo.
Prizes for the winning male and female will be Vietnam Airlines business class tickets their choice of Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore as well as an Adidas running kit including trainers. Second place winners will be rewarded a one night stay at the Evason Ana Mandara and a one night stay at the Six Senses Hideaway Ninh Van Bay for two including breakfast and transfers.
The organizers will also give rewards to first and second place teenagers, who will get an Adidas full running kit including trainers. Meanwhile, the first girl and boy aged 6 to 12 will receive a Milo Bike donated by Nestle.
Registration for the race began on September 20 at the BBGV on 25 Le Duan Street, Dist.1, Ho Chi Minh City. Registration fees are VND100,000 for adults, VND50,000 for children from age 6 to 12 years and free for kids under 5. The fees include the run and refreshments afterwards.
Last year, the BBGV Fun Run attracted 5,500 runners and raised US$36,000 to support many charity projects.
Money raised during last year’s fun run went to the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation-medical assistance programme, “Green library & environment” in Ham Thuan Nam, Binh Thuan province with Thien Chi Group, Saigon Children’s Charity florist training program, Wildlife at Risk (WAR)- Awareness Display Centre at Cat Tien, improving the learning environment at the Education Center for Disabled Children in District 4, Orphan Impact – Support Center for Development of Children and the Phase 5 charity in Hanoi.
