Quang Ngai woman fined for destroying protective forest
A woman in the central province of Quang Ngai has been fined over VND160 million (USD6,531) for destroying a protective forest.
Ho Thi Xuan Hanh, 61, from Tra Bong District’s Huong Tra Commune damaged 2,500 square metres of the forest located at plot 44f.

Hanh admitted clearing the forest to take land for her family’s farming.
Under local authorities’ request, Hanh has to pay the fine and complete replanting the harmed forest area with ironwood trees before December 31 this year.
If failing to comply with the order, the authorities will take coercive measures against her.
Earlier, three men in Quang Ngai’s Bo To District were fined VND240 million for destroying 4,700 square metres of a local forest.
