On February 8, Nghe An Department of Foreign Affairs said a total of 837 Laotian students were studying at six colleges and universities in Vietnam. After Tet Holiday, 324 students returned to universities and 316 of them have left Vietnam.
Eight Laotian students of Vinh Medical University continue staying in Vietnam in their final year. There are 11 students from Thailand, four from Ghana and one from Cameroon at Vinh Medical University. After Tet, one student from Thailand and five from Africa returned to the university.
According to Vinh University, they have over 400 students from Laos and 12 from Ghana, all of them have been allowed to return to their countries since February 7 until further notice.
In accordance with Official Document 79 issued on January 29 by the Secretariat of the Central Committee and the Official Document 5427 issued on February 1 by the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Nghe An authorities have asked all schools and universities in the area to temporarily shut down.
