Tuition fees will also be abolished for those studying general education programmes at institutions that are part of the national education system.
Students at private schools will get tuition fee subsidies. These will be set by city and provincial people’s councils.
The new policy will cost VND 30.6 trillion (USD 1.2 billion) for the 2025-2026 academic school year.
The National Assembly on the same day also approved a resolution on universal preschool education for children aged 3 to 5. The goal is for all centrally governed provinces and cities to meet national standards for universal preschool education in this age group by 2030.
