Vietnamese customs officials seized seven kilos of suspected gold bars carried by a man on a flight from Hong Kong that landed at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport on October 18.

According to a report from customs officials at the airport, the incident occurred around 9.30 am when the import baggage procedure team at the International Passenger Terminal noticed suspicious behaviour by a passenger arriving on a flight from Hong Kong (China). Upon further inspection, the passenger was found to be hiding seven metal bars, suspected to be gold, weighing one kilo each on his person.

The man admitted he was hired to transport the gold from Hong Kong to Vietnam. Upon successfully entering the country, he was to be met by someone who would collect the gold and pay him a fee of 100 Hong Kong dollars per bar.

The Noi Bai International Airport Customs Sub-Department has handed over the man and the evidence and related documents to the Hanoi Police Department for further investigation and legal processing.
