Tran Xuan Soan Street is often inundated by heavy rain and high tides, leading to severe deterioration. The embankment along the road has also been damaged.
Nguyen Huu Duc, who has lived on Tran Xuan Soan Street for 60 years, said that from September, the street often struggles with high tides, forcing residents to wade through the water every morning and afternoon.
HCM City has approved a total investment of VND245 billion (USD10 million) to upgrade Tran Xuan Soan Street. Of the investment, VND130 billion will be used for building a 700-metre dyke along Tran Xuan Soan Street; meanwhile, the remainder will be for elevating the street by 2.1 metres.
The two projects are scheduled to be carried out in the 2024-2025 period.
