According to Vietnam Airlines, the first flight will be organised transporting the workers from HCM City to Hanoi on January 29.
"The workers on these free flights all live in difficult circumstances, have relatives in need of special care, and have not been able to return home to their hometown for Tet for several years," the airline said.
The carrier will also prepare Tet gifts and support vehicles taking them from the airport to bus stations, where they can then catch buses to return to their home.
After Tet holiday, there will be free flights departing from some localities of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, and Van Don to HCM City to transport those workers back to work.
Workers can register for free tickets on Vietnam Airline's fanpage and website.
Speaking about these free flights, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, Dang Anh Tuan, said that the flights are part of the “Flights of Love” campaign which aims to spread humane values for the wider community and social responsibility that the carrier has been promoting for years.
"The expenses for the flights are also supported by our partners at a charity auction," Tuan said.
