HCM City welcomes return of Chinese tourists

The first group of Chinese visitors arrived in HCM City today, March 17, marking the return of Chinese travellers to the city after a three-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The group has 16 will stay in Vietnam for eight days to visit HCM City, Nha Trang and Mui Ne.

Le Hong Tu, director of the Community Tourism Ltd. Co., said that the guests were taken to visit some famous tourist sites in HCM City, including Notre-Dame Cathedral, Saigon Central Post Office and Nguyen Van Binh Book Street. They were keen on Vietnamese traditional long Ao Dai and conical hats and wanted to buy them as souvenirs.

Tu added that the return of holidaymakers is a good sign for the recovery of the city after the pandemic.

Earlier, some localities in Quang Ninh, Lao Cai and Hanoi, welcomed the return of first Chinese visitors after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Vietnam served 1.8 million foreign visitors between January and February this year. The country has set a target to receive 8 million foreign travellers in 2023.
