Hanoi's authorities have fined a mobile Bun cha restaurant operating out of a bus parked on Su Van Hanh Street.

After being banned from serving customers on the pavements recently, owner of a Bun cha (noodle with grilled pork) on Su Van Hanh Street in Hoan Kiem District has decided to expand his small restaurant to an old 29-seated bus which is placed nearby.

Head of the Hoan Kiem District's Traffic Investigation Department, Hoang Xuan Du told Dan Tri/DTiNews late Thursday that they had just given a fine of VND2.5 million (USD110) to the owner of the restaurant for illegally operating on the street.

"We came to check the restaurant late Thursday and the owner said that he had taken all the seats of the bus out for repair and only used it as a temporary place to serve customers," Du said. "But that's illegal and we ordered him to immediately move the vehicle from the street."

Earlier, the restaurant attracted many customers and the owner said he believed he was operating legally as parking is allowed on the street. However, some local people complained that it was affecting traffic as staff had to cross the road to serve customers.
