Vietnam has seen a sharp decrease in the number of daily Covid-19 infections with 91,916 cases confirmed on Sunday, a fall of over 11,000 cases against yesterday's figure, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (10,252), Bac Giang (3,997), Yen Bai (3,977), Nghe An (3,976), Dak Lak (3,909), and Phu Tho (3,638).
As of Sunday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,011,473. The country now stands 14th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,260,268), HCM City (591,198), Nghe An (377,041), Binh Duong (372,549), and Hai Duong (336,060).
On March 27, an additional 185,861more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 5,351,978.
On Sunday evening, a further 62 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,306. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Dong Nai (6), Dak Lak (5), Quang Ninh (4), An Giang (3), Ha Tinh (3), and Kien Giang (3).
Vietnam on March 26 administered 141,599 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 205.00 million.
