The project includes two 200MW units and is slated for completion in 2027. Once expanded, it will boost peak-hour power supply for the southern region of Vietnam and improve the national grid's operational efficiency.
The project is part of the revised National Power Development Plan for 2011-2020 with a vision to 2030, approved by the prime minister. To support the project, the investor has built the Hieu Liem Bridge over the Dong Nai River.
To date, around 73 per cent of the project’s land has been cleared for compensation and resettlement, with 23 per cent already handed over to the investor.
The existing Tri An Hydropower Plant, located on the Dong Nai River, comprises four units with a total installed capacity of 400MW, generating an average of 1.7 billion kWh annually.
