The six gold medals in mathematics this year went to students from Hanoi-Amsterdam high school for the gifted, Newton secondary and high school, Ngoi Sao school, and Olympia school, all of which are based in Hanoi.

The three gold medals in science were awarded to representatives from Hanoi-Amsterdam high school for the gifted and Newton secondary and high school.

In addition, two Vietnamese students won the Best Exploration Champion trophy and the Best Theoretical Champion trophy.

The IMSO for students under the age of 13 initially took place in 2003 and has since developed into a prestigious playground for both students and teachers.

This year, Wenzhou in China played host to the 21st IMSO from October 1 to 6, gathering together 300 contestants from 18 countries and territories globally.

Vietnam hosted the 16th IMSO in 2019, and local students obtained seven gold, seven silver, and four bronze medals in the mathematics, alongside eight gold, seven silver, and three bronze medals in science.
