Many streets in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho were seriously flooded on Saturday as tides on the Hau River reached over two metres.

The river water overflowed into many streets, flooding many houses and offices.

Cach Mang Thang Tam and Bui Huu Nghia streets were among the most heavily flooded.

Many people faced difficulties travelling on the flooded streets during the morning rush hours.

A man had to walk after his motorbike broke down in the floodwaters.

People had to use sandbags and other objects to prevent flood water from overflowing into their houses.

Police and military officers were sent to the area to direct traffic and conduct rescue work.

According to the Can Tho Hydro-Meteorological Station, tides will continue to rise in the coming days between 6 am - 8 am and 6 pm-8 pm, with the highest water level reaching 2.11 metres on Saturday afternoon.
