Hanoi's Long Bien and Duong bridges have reopened after being closed due to high floodwaters.

The water level of the Red River has sharply dropped below Alert Level 2 and is expected to continue receding in the days to come.

Yesterday afternoon, September 13, Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) checked Long Bien and Duong Bridge. The load tests showed that the bridges were safe.

Under the VNR’s decision, all vehicles were allowed to resume use of Long Bien and Duong bridges from 3 pm yesterday.

The first passenger train, linking Hanoi and Haiphong, crossing Long Bien Bridge, was operated at 3:15 yesterday afternoon.

The two bridges were closed on September 10.

The receding water level of the Red River has eased inundation for many areas located by the river.
