The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong's Da Lat City will see its municipal boundaries expand after 2026, earlier than anticipated.

Lac Duong District will be merged into Da Lat City during the 2026-2030 period.

After being expanded, Da Lat City will have a total population of more than 293,000 people, a significant increase that local government officials need to be prepared for. The city's total area will also expand to 1,704 square kilometres, requiring careful management.

Besides the current 12 wards, the city will add the administration of Lac Duong Town to its responsibilities.

During the 2026-2030 period, Bao Lam District's five communes, Loc An, Loc Nam, Tan Lac, Loc Thanh, and Loc Tan, will be merged into Bao Loc City. The city's expanded population will increase to 262,000, and its area will increase to 598 square kilometres.

The three districts of Da Huoi, Da The and Cat Tien will be merged into one district.
