Many people in HCM City have gone out sightseeing and meeting friends after a long time kept indoors by the social distancing rules.

HCM City started easing social distancing regulations on October 1 when people could travel freely within the city and after dozens of business activities have been resumed.

Despite the rain, many people were seen going out cycling, meeting friends, or sightseeing on October 1.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon was not quiet anymore when people gathered outside to pray or take photos.

As tourist sites are still closed, many people just took a ride around the streets or visited familiar sites to take a look at from the outside.

The family of Nguyen Thi Hoa in Binh Thanh District took a tour around some famous sites in the city on their motorbike.

Some foreign people were also seen sightseeing at the famous tourist spots.

A foreign woman, Rah, said that she had been to the Notre Dame Cathedral many times as she lives nearby but she was having a special feeling this time.

"This moment is really precious," Rah said. "The city and I have overcome a really hard time and we're returning to a normal and better life again."

Ngo Thanh Nga in District 4 met some old friends again at the city Post Office after a long time. "I really missed my friends during the four-month social distancing period," she said. "I'm happy that we are still healthy and can meet now."

Restaurants and cafes have reopened so people can easily get some fast food or drinks while travelling.

Some young people took a walk on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street.
