The official welcome and flag-raising ceremony for the Vietnamese sports delegation competing at Asiad 20 was held on the morning of September 18 at Fuji Plaza, Garden Pier, Nagoya Port in Japan.
The ceremony was attended by Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Nguyen Hong Minh, head of the Vietnamese delegation; and athletes and officials representing Vietnam at the Games.

According to the Asiad 20 Organising Committee, welcome activities were held from September 16 to 18 at Fuji Plaza, combining formal ceremonies with cultural performances showcasing local traditions and the historical significance of Nagoya Port.

Nguyen Hong Minh said the delegation had adapted well despite teams being accommodated at multiple locations, which had created logistical challenges for organisers.
"All athletes and officials are in stable condition, and the delegation is ready for competition," he said.

Asiad 20 will officially take place from September 19 to October 4, with the Vietnamese delegation comprising 498 athletes, coaches and officials.
The flag-raising ceremony is a traditional milestone ahead of the opening of major multi-sport events, symbolising the official arrival and participation of national delegations at the Games.
