Organised annually by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, the camp offers overseas Vietnamese youth an opportunity to connect with their roots and strengthen ties with their homeland.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang emphasised that the 2025 Vietnam Summer Camp is meant to foster unity and encourage young overseas Vietnamese to accompany the nation on its journey of renewal and integration.

“I hope this journey will bring you cherished memories, meaningful friendships, and above all, a deep love for Vietnam, so that wherever you are, you will always be proud to be Vietnamese and ready to help build a peaceful, united, and compassionate world,” Hang said.

Truong Cong Thai, Vice Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial People’s Committee, expressed his honor in hosting the opening leg of this year’s camp. He also praised the delegation’s meaningful gesture of donating essential gifts to disadvantaged households in Ea Na Commune.

Representing the 110 young participants, Nguyen Duc Minh, 20, returning from Russia, shared his thoughts on the experience: “For me, this is not a vacation, but a journey of connection. I’ve learned not only from the places we visit but from the people sitting here, young Vietnamese from around the world.”

Minh expressed his pride in taking part and affirmed that, despite living abroad, many young overseas Vietnamese remain deeply connected to their homeland and eager to learn more about its culture and history.

This marks the first time the Vietnam Summer Camp has opened in Buon Ma Thuot, the city that launched the Central Highlands Campaign, a pivotal moment leading to Vietnam’s reunification in 1975.

Running from July 13 to 26, the 2025 Vietnam Summer Camp will take participants across all three regions of the country. The program includes activities such as paying tribute to ancestors and war heroes, cultural exchanges between overseas and local youth, visits to historical and cultural sites, and exploration of Vietnam’s tangible and intangible heritage.
