Dinh Thi Huong and his son
Dinh Thi Huong, 54, in Son Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province, has no other way to feed them.
Her husband was seriously injured while trying to repair the roof of their home before a storm. He fell, causing serious leg injuries, and his health progressively weakened. His is again in hospital after suffering gastric perforation, requiring surgery.
Her eldest son Duong Dinh Thang, 23, who worked to support the family, fell several months ago at a construction site and suffered traumatic head injury. Doctors say he is fighting for his life.
Neighbours helped them with VND10m million in donations. Ho Si Khuong, of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Quang Binh Province, says Thang's daily treatment cost VND5m, and he will need long-term care.
Huong cares for both husband and son at the hospital without any money. She sometimes starves herself to feed her husband and son and has now resorted to going to other rooms in the hospital to beg for food for them.
