A charity group from Hanoi has donated more than VDN100m in Tet gifts, including clothes and school equipment, to 300 disadvantaged students in mountainous areas in northern Lao Cai Province.

Bringing gifts to the needy students
The Cung hanh dong (Action together) charity group trekked along rough paths and crossed streams to bring new uniforms, schoolbags, notebooks, pens, gloves, shocks and shoes to students of Phin Ngan Primary School in Bat Xat District.
The school has a total 300 students, some 72 percent of them from struggling ethnic minority families living in remote areas.
“Such small gifts mean a lot to students at our school,” the principal said.

Happy smiles
A Cong hanh dong volunteer said, “This is the first time I’ve taken part in such a chairty operation. I was a bit scared on our trek (but) I was very happy when I saw the smiling faces of the students."
The head of the charity, Quang Vinh, said, "We’ll be doing more of these operations to help students in mountainous areas this year."
The group is already active in Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Thai Binh and Nghe An provinces.
