Dan Tri has transferred over USD4,400 donated by readers to a 27-year-old mother in Nam Dinh Province who is suffering from leukaemia.
Vu Thi Van
Vu Thi Van often felt tired and slept a lot when her firstborn was 10 months old but the provincial medical facility didn't diagnose her illness. "When I was so tired and fainted, they transferred me to Hanoi's Bach Mai Hospital and doctors said I had leukaemia," Van said.
Both Van and her husband are farmers. After Van found out her illness and was admitted for radiotherapy, her husband, Bui Van Ky, has to take care of her in hospital and is unable to work.
While taking care of Van, her husband suddenly had a stomach ache and later was operated for appendicitis. Their family spent a lot of money on Van's radiotherapy session and her husband's surgery. As they can't borrow any more money, Van decided to stay home.
After their story was published, Van and her husband have received help from many people and they can return to hospital again. The readers donated USD4,400 to Van to help her overcome the difficulties.

"I have more faith now because there are still so many good people around me who love and help us while we were in difficulties," she said.
Van's husband expressed gratitude and said he had never dreamt of receiving so much money. The donation will be used for Van's treatment and her son's milk.
