Two children in Bac Lieu Province abandoned by their parents now face a more gloomy future as their paternal grandparents are suffering from serious diseases.
Phan Thanh Nu, 13 years old, and her brother Phan Van Thinh have been living with their grandparents since they were small after being abandoned by their parents who divorced.

Meanwhile, their grandmother, Quach Thi Lan, 51, has been fighting breast cancer for five years. Due to the financial difficulties, Lan has not been able to maintain her course of medication and her condition is worsening.
The family has faced more difficulties as Lan's husband has been paralysed for many years due to a labour accident. The ailing couple's daily life has to depend on support from their neighbours.
Lan said sometimes she thinks of death, but she continues her daily struggles because of her grandchildren. "Their parents left them after they divorced, so I can't imagine how they will be after we die," she added.
Local official Tran Quoc Le confirmed the difficulties facing Lan's family, particularly when having to care for her grandchildren. He hoped that DTiNews will act as a bridge for donors to support them.
