Nguyen Van Chinh, the chairman of Do Luong Commune People's Committee, said after DTiNews highlighted their case, Nguyen Thi Hoi and Nguyen Thi Ngu received VND10m via post office.
"They have never had such a large amount of money," said Chinh. "They are really happy."
A representative of DTiNews gave each woman VND41,270,000.

"There is so much money. There are still many poor old women and men in our commune so I'll give them some of it," Hoi said.
Ngu's daughter said they would donate VND3m to each of eight other elders and VND5m to a mother with three children who collects scrap. Ngu, 95, could not attend the ceremony herself because she has trouble walking.
Hoi, who is 80, has heart disease and lives in Phu La Village. Her husband left for another woman long ago. Her daughter, Lien, had a car accident that left her with brain injuries, while Lien's husband has chronic kidney disease.

Widow Ngu lives in the same village as Hoi. She has five children. The eldest daughter left the village and married. Her two sons struggle to support the family. One daughter is mentally disturbed and Ngu's other daughter has refused to marry so she can care for her mother.
Ngu has received a monthly pension of VND180,000 each month since she turned 80.
Nine women and men receive help from Ngu and Hoi
Ngu and Hoi, and the commune chairman, expressed their gratitude to donors.
Chinh said, "You bring us a priceless gift. It will help the elders fight hunger, lift everyone's spirits and make them happier."
