A poor student in the central province of Ha Tinh has had to stop his studies to take care of his seriously-injured mother.
Tran Van Cuong, 21, was set to have graduated from a vocational training school in Danang City. But, he has had to stay at home for two months to take care of his mother who has been suffering from a traumatic brain injury and unconsciousness following an accident.
Cuong is taking care of his mother
Cuong said his father suddenly left the family without saying a word and since then no one has heard from him. Her mother had to work very hard to support the family. She even worked as a domestic helper and a hired worker for some local workshops.
Cuong used to help his mother to collect old bottles to sell to a local factory to earn money when at secondary school. During the time to study at Danang City's Railway Training School, he also did some part time jobs to pay tuition fees by himself. Two months ago when his mother experienced a traffic accident, he had to stop his studies and spend time looking after her.
Despite surgery, the mother's condition has not improved. Doctors said that his mother needs very long-term and costly treatment.
Cuong had to borrow money from his relatives and neighbours to pay the medical fees. Being unable to afford the treatment fees, he had to take his mother come back home.
