On April 9, Dtinews reporters, together with local authorities, visited the family of 33-year-old Huynh Thi Hong in Loc Bon Commune, Phu Loc District, Hue City.
During the visit, the team handed over a symbolic cheque of VND152,440,000 to Hong. The amount had been transferred directly to her bank account after her story was published and received widespread support from readers.
Hong shared that with this financial aid, she could now afford medicine and treatment for her youngest son, Nguyen Van Loc Thinh, aged 2. She also used part of the money to buy school supplies and clothes for her two older daughters, saving the rest for future needs.
Baby Thinh suffers from multiple congenital conditions, including epilepsy, gastric reflux, developmental delay, and cerebral palsy. He requires frequent treatment at Hue Central Hospital and the city’s Rehabilitation Centre.
Hong previously sold street snacks and later worked in a garment factory, but she had to quit her job to take full-time care of Thinh. Her husband works as a construction helper, but his health is poor and his income unstable. The couple also has two school-age daughters in primary school.

“I’m deeply grateful to Dantri/Dtinews and the kind-hearted readers who supported my family. Your help has given us strength to keep going through these extremely difficult times,” she said. “If Thinh’s condition improves, I plan to take him to HCM City for further treatment for cerebral palsy, as advised by doctors.”
Vo Thi Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of Loc Bon Commune’s People’s Committee, also sent her sincere thanks to Dantri Newspaper and kind donors for supporting Hong's family. She stated that the local government always tries to support vulnerable households like Hong’s, and hopes that more benefactors will continue to lend a hand to those in need.
