A boy in Quang Binh Province has been taking care of his mother, who is struggling with cancer, at a local hospital for more than a year.
Le Anh Tuan, who has become emaciated, with dark circles around his eyes after many sleepless nights caring for his ailing mother, said that he was born without a farther. He grew up with the love of his mother and his older sister.

The older sister has got married and now he and his mother are living in a house built with donations from relatives, villagers and local authorities.
After high school, he planned to take a university entrance exam but his mother suddenly became ill, forcing him to delay his dream.
Doctors at Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital said that his 56-year old mother has a brain tourmour and is in need of surgery to save her life.
Tuan got loans from a bank and his relatives to take his mother to Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi for the treatment. Doctors there said that the surgery costs around VND100 million (USD4,760). His family could not afford such a large amount, so he took his mother back home.
After returning home, the mother’s health condition has got worse and he continued trying to find a way to save her. He asked for help from his family’s relatives and borrowed house ownership right certificates to use as collateral for loans from banks. However, after the operation, his mother’s condition did not improve much, and the boy still had to pay back the loans.

Recently, he borrowed some additional money to take his mother to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital for treatment.
He intended to sell his blood to make some money to buy his mother food, but doctors said that he was so thin and weak to do this.
Duong Thi Van Ha, from the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital, said that Tuan’s mother is now in very bad health and the left side of her body is paralysed.
